About Global Challenges
In 2006, ADP partnered with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) to translate their 7 Revolutions framework into curricular and co-curricular strategies to educate globally competent American citizens. The 7 Revolutions content was created by CSIS and identifies the seven global trends that will shape the world by 2030: population, resources, technology, information, economic integration, conflict/security, and governance.

About the Institute
This two-day institute introduces participants to numerous tools for educating globally competent citizens. Global Engagement Scholars (faculty members) from 11 AASCU campuses describe how they have built courses and curricula around the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ 7 Revolutions Framework (population, resources, technology, information, economic integration, conflict/security and governance). Institute leaders demonstrate the teaching materials and resources they have found most valuable in the courses they teach (including introductory, first-year, discipline-based and honors courses) and guide participants in anticipating how these same tools could be used effectively on their home campuses.
Participants also have the opportunity to learn more about how to bring the new national Global Challenges blended learning course to their campuses. The blended learning model course, designed by the AASCU scholars, includes a variety of teaching methods to deliver and facilitate classroom materials and activities. The course is delivered through the Epsilen eLearning Environment (a web-based application that allows students to access course materials), The New York Times Digital Content Repository and much more. Costs for the 2012-13 academic year are $50 per student for AASCU institutions. Institute participants will also learn about the new Global Challenges eBook.
Each Institute participant will receive a faculty toolkit for using the global challenges content in campus courses and programs. This practical and insightful Institute is ideal for universities that want to deepen their commitment to providing effective international education in a variety of disciplines.

The registration fee is $250 per person for AASCU members. The non-member fee is $325. The fee includes all program sessions and materials (including a copy of the new 2012 Faculty Toolkit), as well as refreshment breaks and lunch on Friday and Saturday.

** Note: Hotel reservations will be made through AASCU; indicate the days you need on your registration form and you will be invoiced for your tax-free hotel bill following the institute.
- The special conference rate is $199/night for a single/double room. Please note that rooms are equipped with a King Bed and a pull out sofa. See attachments for the hotel floor plan and a hotel brochure.
- To obtain this rate, using AASCU’s tax-free status in DC, you must indicate your arrival and departure dates on the Registration Form and submit your form by Wednesday, October 3, 2012.
- Check-in at the hotel is at 4 p.m. and check-out is at noon.

- Spacious two-room suites with separate living room and bedroom. The living room has a sleeper sofa, television set and DVD player, and telephone. The bedroom has a television, telephone with data port, full size iron and ironing board, hairdryer, and large well-lit vanity area.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
If you must cancel your registration, you will receive a full refund if the cancellation is before 5 p.m. EST on Monday, October 22. There will be a $125 cancellation fee after that date. Special circumstances will be handled on an individual basis.
