We want you! Apply for the 2017 CLDE Meeting Planning Committee by 5/20
The 2016 Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE) Meeting Planning Committee is busy gearing up for what promises to be a great conference June 2-4 in Indianapolis. The 2016 CLDE planning committee has been hard at work over the past year carefully crafting initiatives to create space for dialogue, inspire action, and to educate.
At the same time, we’re looking ahead to 2017 and our next meeting in Baltimore, Md. June 8-10, 2017. We’re looking for a few volunteers –-maybe you?—to serve as thought leaders and planners as we wrestle with how best to convene a meeting intended to generate ideas and energy for tackling some of the biggest issues we face as a democratic society: social and economic injustice; bitter partisanship in our elections and governance; and diminishing funding for higher education, just to name a few.
Are you prepared to help frame and create space for the important discussions we need to have as a higher education community committed to preparing our students to be informed, engaged and voting agents of democracy? Please consider serving on the 2017 CLDE Meeting planning committee. Opportunities to educate and advocate present themselves on our campuses and in our communities, and we believe this is an opportunity to come together as a profession to underscore our commitment to actively creating a more socially just society.
We look forward to catalyzing advocacy and education efforts with the help of our members to inspire and enhance civic learning and democratic engagement in Baltimore.
Our hope is that you’ll consider serving on the 2017 CLDE Meeting planning committee. Committee responsibilities include providing content advisory expertise to the program learning outcomes, program selection process, and member engagement initiatives. Interested applicants should send a current resume and a brief statement of interest to Jen Domagal-Goldman at email@example.com by May 20, 2016. Selected participants will be notified of their participation on the 2017 CLDE Meeting planning committee by May 31, 2016. The committee will convene for the first time on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the CLDE 2016 meeting in Indianapolis.
We invite you to voice your feedback on the conference locations and we encourage you to share ideas to make Baltimore a positive, safe, and catalyzing experience for conference participants.
ADP, TDC, and NASPA affirm our individual and collective commitments to social justice through year round education and advocacy. We look forward to the opportunity to educate and advocate at all of the Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE) Meetings organized by the American Democracy Project, The Democracy Commitment, and the NASPA Lead Initiative. Together we will make a difference by our presence and collective voice.
