National Voter Registration Day
By Amanda Adams, AASCU Civic Engagement Intern and Stockton University (N.J.) student
National Voter Registration Day is here! In 2008 6 million United States citizens did not vote because they missed registration day. Let’s make sure that no one misses out on the chance to vote in the next election. For some ideas on how you can spread the word, check out what some ADP students are doing:
Jordan Hatch from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah is partnering with Weber County Elections and will hold a voter registration day on campus today. Posters have been placed around the campus from the National Voter Registration Day organization. Students will be able to register at the table; alternatively, they will also be given information on how to register online.
Kayley Corley, student ADP intern at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith has planned a tabling event for students on campus in order to bring awareness to the issue. One of their goals this year is to increase voter registration and awareness and they hope that this event will further their initiative.
The Kennesaw State University (Ga.) student government president and the dean of students created a video about registering to vote via ADP partner TurboVote. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyCzL10A-iQ!
