American Democracy Project Tackles Human Trafficking

This spring the American Democracy Project at Indiana State University tackled the topic of human trafficking.  The hosted discussion allowed students to learn about human trafficking around the world and the role they might play in combating it.  Read more here.

Fort Hays State University Hosts Several Civic Leadership Events

This spring the Fort Hays State University’s (Kan.) Center for Civic Leadership partnered with the American Democracy Project to host several events to promote civic leadership.  Events included a voter registration drive and an “Arts and Issues” contest.  Read more here.

The American Democracy Project  hosted Levita Rohlman to give a talk about her work as an immigration consultant.  Rohlman has focused her work specifically on refugee and has strived to find them homes in Kansas. Read more here.

Illinois State University’s American Democracy Project and School of Communication Team up

Illinois State University’s American Democracy Project teamed up with the School of Communication to sponsor a Social Issues Fair.  Read more here.

University of Central Oklahoma’s American Democracy Project Hosts Debate on Death Penalty

The American Democracy Project at the University of Central Oklahoma held a debate on the death penalty.  The debate examined the Oklahoma Justice Commission’s call for reforms to the criminal justice system and whether those reforms make the death penalty more legitimate in the eyes of the public. It also examined the commission’s call for abolishment of the death penalty. Read more here and here.

American Democracy Project Hosts Town Hall at California State University Fullerton

In April the American Democracy Project at California State University Fullerton hosted a town hall meeting for more than 600 students from three American government courses.  Topics included inequality, immigration and fiscal policy. Read more here.

American Democracy Project at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Hosts Roundtable

Students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh came together for Campus Conversations: Roundtable Discussions, hosted by the American Democracy Project.   At the roundtable students discussed issues that are concerning them on campus, issues facing others—such as poverty, healthcare and education financing—and how to engage in activism.
