#ADPTDCsotu Tweeting Up the State of the Union address
Join ADP and TDC on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 for a live, national Tweet-up of the President’s State of the Union address to the U.S. Congress.
What: State of the Union National Tweet-Up (a live discussion via Twitter)
When: Tues., 1/28 from 8:45 PM EST to 10:45 PM EST
Where: On Twitter (www.twitter.com)
How: Follow @ADPaascu and @TDCnational and join the discussion using #ADPTDCsotu
Join us for an evening of political engagement as we watch and discuss President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union address to Congress and the Republican response. Participants are encouraged to Tweet comments using #ADPTDCsotu (they sould also follow @ADPaascu and @TDCnational). Note: participants are also encouraged to search for “#ADPTDCsotu” in the Twitter search box so that they can follow the entire conversation, rather than only the comments of people they follow on Twitter.
Some campuses have found it effective in the past to hold public viewings of the address and to set up a second screen in the front of the room and project a live feed of the tweets by using tweetchat.com. The site does an automatic refresh (you can set it for every 5 seconds) so everyone in the room can see the tweets coming in.
Participants are encouraged to join in our conversation by responding to tweeted questions; please also encourage everyone to keep their comments civil and analytical/informative.
We hope this Tweet-up serves as a learning opportunity for students and other participants – an opportunity to engage in conversation with people with different political beliefs and a way to consider what the issues raised in the SOTU address mean for the future of our country.
We encourage participants to indicate their college or university in their first Tweet (e.g. #ISUadp; #ESU). Remember to log in and tweet up at 8:45 pm EST.
