#ADPFF: 9.6.2013
By Stephanie South, Program Associate, American Democracy Project
Happy Friday, Friends of ADP!
As we’ve mentioned (just a few times), Constitution Day is right around the corner, and on this Friday, I’m testing my knowledge (with a quiz made for kids).
Full disclosure: I scored a 7 out of 10. There was a trick question! And I learned a couple things. Feeling competitive? Have a take; you can find it here.
Fascinating facts about the Constitution are also keeping me entertained; you can read those here.
A couple of my favorites:
- The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the oldest and shortest written Constitution of any major government in the world.
- The only other language used in various parts of the Constitution is Latin.
By the way, the first day of graduate school, they encouraged us to carry a pocket Constitution with us everywhere we go; they said we’d be amazed at how much we use it. Here goes nothing!
