2013 Upper Midwest Civic Engagement Summit

Call for Proposals

The second annual Upper Midwest Civic Engagement Summit will be held May 29 and 30, 2013 at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. A Request for Proposals has been released, and session proposals should relate to the 2013 theme:  Weaving Deep Connections Across Institutions and Communities.

Greater depth and integration of civic engagement work in higher education is essential to advancing colleges’ and universities’ missions to graduate students with the capacities and determination to contribute to the public good; to discover and apply knowledge in ways that strengthen our democracy, economy, and society; and to act as responsible anchors in their own communities.

The planning committee thus invites interactive sessions that address a variety of types of deep civic connections and that either help attendees build new skills or encourage issue-focused discussion and strategizing.
